Artist’s Statement
I embrace impermanence and change for what it is and dream of some sense of timelessness in an aesthetic and emotional ideal. As my life quickly moves on , I try to find glimpses of truth and meaning as I relate to the world around me. My painting has become a feeling, a feeling of this one moment I am now experiencing in time surrounded by the changing culture I live in. This gives me the impetus to paint the true essence of my emotions. Much of what I feel has been a result of my Maine traditions I experience and that are embedded in my memories. Some of my paintings are of a time gone by, a different pace in time, when clocks ticked slower and Maine summers seemed longer. One could linger and make time to see small joys of living in simplicity with Nature. I want my painting to reflect emotions and spirituality that emanates from my love for Maine, its traditions, and most importantly its people.
